Relocation and Enhancement of Existing Plant and Systems

Client: Government of Jersey
Project type: Series of improvement works to existing hospital mechanical and electrical plant
Size: Various
Key Roles: Project Manager
Sectors: Industrial, Government
Location: St Helier, Jersey

Description:

In preparation for the phased development of the new Future Hospital it was decided to undertake a series of projects to relocate and upgrade the current mechanical and electrical plant and other services.

The projects were identified for various locations around the General Hospital and included; the upgrade of the pathology windows and ventilation system, primary gas manifold and bottle storage relocation and demolition line security including structural protection to minimise the impact of dust and noise pollution resulting from Future Hospital works.

Particularly challenging aspects of this project were the requirement for the logistical coordination with interdependent projects and meeting shifting client objectives and timelines. We also managed the complex design development of the Pathology and gas manifold works.

In our role as project managers we were responsible for programme management and cost monitoring, requiring careful logistical coordination with interdependent projects which became particularly challenging given the continual shift in client objectives and timeframes.
