Description:

The aim of the project was to create a new clubhouse for the Jersey Hockey Club, who felt that ‘a “home for hockey” is something the sport had been lacking for many years’. The goal was to provide a hub and central meeting point for players, coaches, officials and supporters to come together. The new clubhouse will also play a role in supporting the promotion of hockey and add to the number of visitors coming to the Island to enjoy the sport.

The development comprised the construction of a new clubhouse to the rear of an existing pitch side stand. This includes changing facilities on the ground floor with new commercial kitchen and bar, lounge area and wrap around veranda with access to the stands being provided on the 1st floor.

Rowney Sharman joined the project after the ground works were complete and undertook the roles Project Manager and Contract Administrator for which favourable rates were offered given the ‘charity’ status of the club and acknowledging its contribution to the promotion of sport in the Island. We coordinated communication between the landlord and the hockey club, took responsibility for monitoring onsite works, scheduling and chairing of progress meetings, monitoring of costs and reporting back to the client and management of client variations and client direct orders; including signage, kitchen, AV installation and CCTV. Our role also included assisting with the liquor licence application and achieving ‘signoffs’ from; the Environmental Health and Fire officers.
