Description:

The Client’s objective was to relocate 150 staff from their current location to a refurbished modern office in Guernsey. Utilising 2 floors of an existing 4 storey building, the office has the capacity to accommodate 165 staff in an open plan environment provisioned with an employee café, breakout areas and high quality client meeting rooms, fully equipped with audio visual conference facilities.

The project scope included the demolition and upgrade of CAT A services on one floor, alongside CAT B installation, including security systems on both floors.

As the appointed project manager, we were responsible for the coordination of the project team, chairing project meetings, design change management and control of the procurement process. We managed a very challenging contract delivery programme, which started onsite in January 2020, and should have been completed by May 2020. However, workforce and travel restrictions brought about by the COVID pandemic resulted in project delivery being moved by 3 months. This required considerate negotiation of contractual arrangements to incorporate the restrictions while ensuring successful delivery of the project to the client’s revised timescales.

The clients procurement processes are governed by strict corporate requirements involving the engagement of approved ‘global’ suppliers. We were able to demonstrate to the client the value of procuring a local design team and assist with the processes of their approval as preferred suppliers enabling them to work on this project.
