Key Roles: Client Representative, Project Manager, Contract Administration, HSPC, Relocation Management
Sectors: Office, Government
Location: St Helier, Jersey

Description:

The client’s objective was to accommodate non-customer facing employees into one office building for central government functions within a six-month timeframe. The brief was to create a modern, flexible and efficient/open environment to facilitate the new agile approach to working as part of the Government of Jersey’s ‘OneGov Office Modernisation’ initiative.

The project scope included demolition works, mechanical and electrical alterations, new CAT 6A data cabling infrastructure, CAT B fit out works including new AV equipped meeting rooms and new tea points on each floor.

As client representative we assisted with the site selection and lease negotiations process to acquire the 5 storey office block in the centre of St Helier, procurement of contractors and key suppliers and meeting the project objectives.
In our role as project managers we were key to effective communication and engagement with a very diverse range of project stakeholders. We advised the client, led the project teams (design & contractor), managed the project programme timescale and provided monthly progress and cost reports to the client.

As HSPC we advised the client on their duties and coordinated the implementation of a comprehensive access strategy, which ensured the safety and continuous use of the building with minimal disruption throughout.

We effectively coordinated the risks of delivering a project to a challenging programme advising on the most suitable consultants and contractors to meet the project timescales and deliver fit out works while the building was live and in continuous use by the Landlord.

The migration management process required relocation of circa 500 staff on a floor by floor basis over 5 weekends. Close liaison with the clients located in various buildings and careful coordination of IT and move contractors ensured that all teams were operational in their new offices on the Monday morning following their Friday ‘shut down’, minimising the disruption of normal day to day business.
