Description:

As an enabling scheme for the proposed Future Hospital development, the main goal of this project was to relocate services from Peter Crill House (on the Jersey General Hospital site) to enable its use as decant space for other hospital services with a higher priority to remain onsite during the demolition phases.

This required securing a temporary property within close proximity to the hospital to create general office accommodation and space for the hospital’s Education and Training functions. We were appointed to manage the site selection process, which resulted in the leasehold acquisition by the Government of Jersey of 28-30 The Parade, St Helier.

We developed the feasibility brief to remodel the ground and first floors of this five storey building to provide a student centre, library, clinical skills lab, a mix of various size classrooms and small meeting rooms and open plan office space. The scope also included complete replacement of the heating and ventilation systems to meet the demands of the increased occupation density of an education facility.

As client representative we managed the design process, including procurement of the design team. We liaised closely with user groups to ensure design specifications were met and conformed to regulatory standards of a healthcare education facility. We developed the project programme and provided regular client updates including financial reporting. The tender process was managed in accordance with the Government of Jersey’s strict procurement processes and we were in position to appoint a contractor to undertake the works onsite. Due to the Future Hospital not attaining planning permission however, the project ceased at this stage.
