Relocation of Administration & Engineering Services

Client: Government of Jersey
Project type: Provision of offsite engineering workshops and administration offices, plus temporary onsite critical repair rooms
Key Roles: Project Management
Sectors: Office, Industrial, Government
Location: St Helier, Jersey

Description:

This project sought to relocate on-site Hospital engineering functions to a combination of alternative on-site premises, for urgent activities, and an off-site location for engineering workshops and administration functions. The vacated site would be critical to the delivery of the phased Future Hospital development.

The scope of works included the provision of offsite office accommodation in accordance with the Government of Jersey Office Modernisation Programme (OMP) and the provision of offsite engineering workshops. The onsite education centre was to be repurposed to provide space for critical onsite equipment repairs as well touch down office space.

As the appointed project managers, we developed the client brief through close liaison with the project team and undertook the challenging task of planning the project to align with the Future Hospital timescales, space availability and interdependent projects. This required engagement with a diverse range of user groups to gain a clear understanding of essential requirements to maintain the existing service at multiple locations during the phased Future Hospital Development. We also captured and reported on project costs, which continually evolved in tandem with the project scope.

As a result of the Government of Jersey’s decision not to progress the Future Hospital project on the current site, this enabling scheme became unnecessary and therefore ceased.
